These days it seems like everyone has at least a six-pack, and it’s not really the gold standard of male health like it once was.
These days men want to be BETTER than average and thus end up looking up things like “how to get chest striations….”
Well, rest assured because I guarantee you, that unless you are severely overweight, then getting chest striations is actually a LOT easier than you think if you’re doing the right things.
That’s what this article is all about, because I’m going to teach you EXACTLY how to get chest striations, and spoiler:
Depending on your fitness level, you might be able to see them TODAY.
So without further ado, let’s jump into it!
What Are Chest Striations?
See that guy above? That’s 7x Mr. Olympia winner Arnold Schwarzenegger and he was a HUGE advocate for developing a striated chest.
Notice those little lines on his chest that makes it look like someone put saran wrap over his chest?
THOSE are chest striations and until recently was a VERY HARD feat to achieve naturally.
But, thanks to advancements in knowledge and modern blueprints like my guide to aesthetics, these days learning how to get chest striations is easier than ever before!
Now, just because it’s easier than ever doesn’t mean that it’s easy period.
Keep in mind, if you develop chest striations then you will quite literally be in the top 1% of men in the WORLD!
This is no small feat of course, but it should definitely motivate you to get there.
Myths & Lies About Chest Striations
Now, take a look at the images above again. That’s me and at the time of writing this article, the most unnatural things I take are creatine and a natural testosterone booster.
I’d say it’s safe to say that I know a thing or two about getting shredded. And most importantly I know a thing or two about what people will lie to you about to get you to buy their products.
For starters, many people proclaim that chest striations are 100% genetic and you either have it or you don’t.
And these are really the worst kind of people, because not only are they making excuses for their own laziness, but it starts affecting other people’s beliefs too.
Others say that you need steroids, or how you need to be ridiculously jacked, or how certain exercises can give you striations immediately even if you’re 100 pounds overweight!
None of these are true. YOU can get chest stations, it’s not impossible, and to be honest, it’s probably easier than you think.
How To Get Chest Striations In 3 Steps
Now that we’re getting into actually how to get chest striations, I need to be real with you here.
I’m not going to B.S. you and say that “Oh yeah, of course you can get a shredded chest if you’re overweight with terrible eating habits… Hur dur” Because that’s not the case.
The truth is, you need to be extremely lean compared to the average person to get chest striations. We’re talking sub 10 % body fat to be exact.
That being said, even if you are overweight, still apply the advice in this article because I guarantee you’ll lose more fat than the stupid 99$ program made by some fitness guru.
Here are the 3 steps to get chest striations:
- Use A High Quality Fat Shredding Protocol
- Get Rid Of ALL Water Retention
- Utilize High-Rep Fly Movements
Yep, that’s really all there is to it. And stay tuned because now, I’m going to break down each step in vivid detail so that you can get the absolute MOST out of this article.
Use A High-Quality Fat Shredding Protocol
As alluded to earlier, you need to be lean, like REALLY fucking lean.
To do this I will give you a variation of the fat shredding protocol that I teach my clients in my program The Aesthetics Blueprint.
To shred fat as fast as possible we’re going to be using a special form of fasted cardio called HIIE cardio which is where you do something intense like an all-out sprint for 15 seconds followed by 30 seconds rest, and repeat.
Studies show that doing this type of cardio not only provides MASSIVE weight-loss benefits, but also boosts the subjects’ testosterone, cognitive function, mood, and more:
“Results showed that women in the HIIE group lost significantly more subcutaneous fat (2.5 kg) than those in the steady state aerobic exercise program. The amount of subcutaneous fat lost was similar to that observed in the Trapp et al. study suggesting that shorter HIIE interventions (12 versus 15 weeks) are also effective for reducing subcutaneous fat.” [R]
In other words, High-Intensity Interval Exercise or HIIE, works. This effect is multiplied if you also do it in a fasted state.
So to implement this, try skipping breakfast and before eating anything do 10 sets of all-out sprints or something else of intense quality.
If you can’t handle HIIT or HIIE then you can just do steady form of cardio like jogging or jumping rope.
Get Rid Of ALL Water Retention
Most people don’t know this, but the fastest way to look like you immediately lost 5-10lbs of fat, is to lose the excess water weight.
To be honest, this could be a whole article in and of itself but I’m going to give you the basics here.
For starters, start drinking a gallon of water a day. I know, I know it seems counterintuitive but when your body realizes that it’s getting enough water, it’ll stop holding onto it in the body as a survival measure.
Next up, you gotta cut out overly salty foods and this may be trickier than you think.
For example, you may think canned foods are relatively harmless but in an average can of green beans, you have literally more than HALF your daily serving of sodium in just that one can of supposedly “healthy” food.
Sodium/salt is like a sponge for your body and will cause you to retain water at a ridiculous rate, so the more you can cut out the better.
Lastly, try anything with diuretic properties to help flush out any excess water in your system.
I find that tons of caffeine and protein works very well for this but you can also get similar effects in things like lemons and whatnot.
Utilize High-Rep Fly Movements
Lastly we have something that you can actively do whilst in the gym, which is high-rep fly movements.
To put it simply, lower reps in any exercise are better for strength and muscle gain, whereas higher reps are better for conditioning and defining the muscle.
When it comes to learning how to get chest striations, it’s not a matter of total mass, but more so of leanness and muscle definition.
So, if you want a shredded-looking chest, then start incorporating sets of 15-20 reps for any fly movement as flys are the most optimal for getting chest striations by far.
Workout For Chest Striations
Now, while technically you don’t need a special workout plan to get chest striations if you’re lean enough, it definitely does NOT hurt and can speed up your results drastically.

How To Get Inner Chest Striations
As a brief sub-topic, many people also want to know how to get inner chest striations too.
Luckily, it’s pretty much the same as how to get chest striations by themself but with ONE key difference.
With inner chest striations, you are going to want your hands to cross each other on fly movements.
This means doing cable flys, and instead of just bringing your hands together, you’re going to crisscross them and get an even STRONGER contraction of the chest.
If you do this method on cable flys, you’ll get inner chest striations in no time.
